Here is a complete Calendar of Events for the Weatherby Lake Yacht Club, including the Race Schedule and Parties. Related events and general Holidays are also shown. Junior Sailing events are shown separately below.

Complete Events Calendar 2020 (tentative):

Tue. March 17, 2020: St Patrick’s Day Parade & Party at Community Center sponsored by the Irish Club.
Sat. March 28, 2019: Ice Breaker Party at the home of Mindee & Scott Jackman, 7511 NW Kerns Dr. Party starts at 6:30 pm and goes to 10:30 pm. Chili cook off & desert contest, WLYC membership sign-up, and Junior Sailing Classes sign-up. EVERYONE at Weatherby Lake is invited. Come and meet your neighbors and join the WLYC. Membership is $60 per family, $65 after the Ice Breaker.
Sun. April 5, 2020: Sailing Racers Rules Meeting at the home of Jim & Linda Kennedy, 7906 NW Pleasant Ford, 6:00 pm. All skippers, crews, and interested sailors are invited.
Sun. April 12, 2020: Easter Sunday

Series 1

Sat. April 25, 2020: Blessing of the Fleet at C-Point, 10:00 am. Come by boat, foot, or car and have breakfast, visit with neighbors, and join the boat blessing.
Sun. April 26, 2020: Race 1 & 2, Early Series, 1:30 pm
Sat. May 2, 2020: Kentucky Derby Party at home of Jim & Linda Kennedy, 7906 NW Pleasant Ford, 4:00-7:00 pm. Wear your favorite Derby hat! $10 gets you Mint Juleps, beer, and wine. Bring an appetizer or dessert to share! Open to all Weatherby Lake residents.
Sun. May 3, 2020: Race 3 & 4, Early Series, 1:30 pm
Sun. May 10, 2020: Mother's Day weekend, no official racing. Some racers may sneak away for unofficial racing.
Sun. May 17, 2020: Race 5 & 6, Early Series, 1:30 pm
Sun. May 24, 2020: Memorial Day weekend, no official racing. Some racers may sneak away for unofficial racing.
Sun. May 31, 2020: Race 7 & 8, Early Series, 1:30 pm
Sun. June 7, 2020: Race 9 & 10, Early Series, 1:30 pm
Sat. June 13, 2020: Progressive Dinner Party , 6:00 pm till dawn. Tickets $65 per person, due by June 3, dropped off at City Hall. WLYC membership is required. By reservation only and seating is limited to 150 seats. Appetizers at 6:00 pm at the home of (TBD). Dinner will follow at the home of (TBD). Theme this year is (TBD). Come by land or sea! This is a MUST event at Weatherby Lake.
Sun. June 14, 2020: Race 11 & 12, Early Series, 1:30 pm
Sun. June 21, 2020: Fathers Day weekend, no official racing. Some racers may sneak away for unofficial racing.

Series 2

Fri. June 26, 2020: Light Up the Lake Night, All boats gather at C Point around dusk. Look for two pontoons racked together with a rotating yellow light. When the horn sounds, all boats follow as they lead the way toward the dam. We will take a couple of laps around the lake. All boats can join the parade - sailboats, pontoons, fishing boats, etc.
Sun. June 28, 2020: Race 1 & 2, Late Series, 1:30 pm
Sat. July 4, 2020: Weatherby Lake Fireworks Celebration, 9:00 pm - 10:00 pm at the Weatherby Lake Dam.
Sat. July 4, 2020: Cardboard Boat Regatta, Construct a boat out of cardboard and duct tape. Check-in and inspection 5:00 pm, first race 6:00 pm. Registration fee $25, includes free T-shirt. (Last day to register is June 29.)
Sat. July 4, 2020: 4^th of July Red, White, & Blue Party, 7:00 pm at C-Point. Mike Aldridge is roasting a whole hog for pickin' with awesome sides and coctails. Adults $20, children over 10, $10. Open to WLYC members and their guests.
Sun. July 5, 2020: 4^th of July weekend, no official racing. Some racers may sneak away for unofficial racing.
Sun. July 12, 2020: Race 3 & 4, Late Series, 1:30 pm
Thr. July 16, 2020: Adaptive Sailing, 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm at C-Point.
Sun. July 19, 2020: Race 5 & 6, Late Series, 1:30 pm
Sun. July 26, 2020: Race 7 & 8, Late Series, 1:30 pm
Sun. Aug. 2, 2020: Race 9 & 10, Late Series, 1:30 pm
Sun. Aug. 9, 2020: Race 11 & 12, Late Series, 1:30 pm

Series 3

Sun. Aug. 16, 2020: Race 1 & 2, Frostbite Series, 1:30 pm
Sat. Aug. 22, 2020: King Series Races, C Point. Practice from 7:00 am to 9:00 am. Skippers meeting 9:00 am. Races start at 10:00 am. Come see the top sailors compete for the best skipper & crew of the year award.
Sat. Aug. 22, 2020: King Series Party & Car Show, C Point. Car Show 12:00 noon to 5:00 pm. King Series Party 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm. Adult Yacht Club members $20, adult non-members $30, children under 12 $10. Open to everyone. BBQ cooking with some of Weatherby Lakes finest Chefs. Good food, great music, and wild dancing.
Sun. Aug. 23, 2020: Triathelon, no official racing. Some racers may sneak away for unofficial racing.
Sat. Aug. 29, 2020: Ray's Great Balloon Race , C-Point. Approximately 8:00 pm or 30 minutes before dark. This is a family event and EVERYONE at Weatherby Lake and guests are invited . Bring your flashlights and fish nets to catch those balloons on the lake.
Sun. Aug. 30, 2020: Race 3 & 4, Frostbite Series, 1:30 pm
Sun. Sept. 6, 2020: Labor Day weekend, no official racing. Some racers may sneak away for unofficial racing.
Sat. Sept. 12, 2020: Long Distance Classic Race, C Point. Skippers meeting at 12:00 noon. Sail around all the marks, finish in place. First boat starts just after 1:00 pm (depending on boat type). Race ends at 4:00 pm.
Sat. Sept. 12, 2020: Long Distance Classic Party With Food, Drinks, & Dancing, C Point, 6:30 pm to 11:00 pm. Good food, great music, and wild dancing.
Sun. Sept. 13, 2020: Race 5 & 6, Frostbite Series, 1:30 pm
Sun. Sept. 20, 2020: Race 7 & 8, Frostbite Series, 1:30 pm
Sun. Sept. 27, 2020: Race 9 & 10, Frostbite Series, 1:30 pm

Wed. Nov. 11, 2020: Veterans Day
Sat. Nov. 14, 2020: Yacht Club Fall Fling, 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm at The View at Briarcliff, 4000 N Mulberry Dr., KCMO 64116. You will not want to miss this special event! Cocktails, gourmet catered dinner, and dancing to the 9.9ers. Cost is $50 per person for dinner, beer, and/or wine, or $35 per person for dinner only. Also a cash bar option for individual drinks. Open to Yacht Club members and their guests. Please RSVP by November 2^nd. Jacket/Evening attire please.
Thr. Nov. 26, 2020: Thanksgiving Day
Fri. Nov. 27, 2020: Thanksgiving Sail & Party, Sail from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon, Party at 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm at the home of Dave Ebbrecht, 9904 NW 75th Terr.

Thr. May 21, 2020: Junior Sailing Parent/Guardian Orientation, 6:30 pm at C-Point Pavilion.
Wed. June 3, 2020: Junior Sailing Orientation: Laser 11:00 am - 12:00 pm, All Racing 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm.
Mon. June 8, 2020: Junior Sailing Beginner Sessions begin. Session I: Monday/Wednesday 10:00 am, Session II: Monday/Wednesday 12:00 pm, Session III: Monday/Wednesday 1:30 pm (14 classes total).
Mon. June 8, 2020: Junior Sailing Beginning Racing - Opti Green Sessions begin. Monday/Wednesday 3:00 pm (14 classes total).
Tue. June 9, 2020: Junior Sailing Intermediate Sessions begin. Session I: Tuesday/Thursday 12:00 pm, Session II: Tuesday/Thursday 1:30 pm (14 classes total).
Tue. June 9, 2020: Junior Sailing Advanced Racing - Opti Red Sessions begin. Tuesday/Thursday 3:00 pm (14 classes total).
